HISTORY

I am thepixelizer aka PiXeL, I've been drawing my whole life, even before I started school. I taught myself how to draw, I got inspired to make comics once I started watching this cartoonists tutorials on tv. I drew a lot, almost everyday, I always dreamed of making a cartoon and practiced and kept on learning until eventually I ended up with a backlog of over 300 characters and 20 comic series projects.

Early starts to digital arts

I started out doodling in photoshop, then I switched over to powerpoint and started making interactive animated slideshows, I downloaded and many trials for gif. animation software, eventually I started making pixel art comics in in Microsoft paint with sprite sheets from the web, then I started editing sprite sheets to make fan characters, and eventually I started makling my own sprite sheets from scratch. (which is why I decided to name myself thepixelizer)

The Game Dev projects

Once I found out about Game Maker and I started making projects but I never finished any of them. I had around nine or fifteen prototypes, I stored them all on a flash stick that eventually broke. Most of them were pretty simple. The first one I made was a Pac Man like clone, the second was a top down adventure game starring a green Kirby-like character named Tonki. The other big ones were Switch a sidescrolling beat em up game where you played as two characters a ninja with a wooden katana and a guy with jet pack and tesla coil gun figthing a clone army from the future. Chomp Bot's Rampage a side scrolling platformer with food powerups and combat. Orbo a topdown room escape gam with comical dialogue. Fun with Force a platformer where I tried using physics for the first time that also featured a character editor. Long Ride a side scrolling racing game. And Pinball Turtles a platformer pinball hybrid.

My Animation journey

Eventually after watching "Dad's Home" and "Dad's at Work" from Sakupen on Newgrounds I got inspired to start making my own animations. I found this site called Aniboom and started making short soundless animation loops with their browser animation software called Shapeshifter. That's when I made Mallet Man. Eventually I got Flash and started animating in that program, my first ever project was The Impossible Stunt Man, it was going to be a vector fight animation but it was too advanced for me at the time, so I stopped production. Eventually a Sesame Street contest started and I animated Star Bright. The uploading process kept on crashing and lagging until I missed the deadline by one minute. I decided to upload it to my Newgrounds.

A film festival came out on newgrounds called Pixel Day so I made a pixel art cartoon called Platformer Pests, I got first place and it was featured on the frontpage. I made two more episodes for the next two Pixel Days, the competion got better and I didn't get first place.

I also made Dynamic Defenders one time for the Robot Day film festival on Newgrounds, it was the first 3d animation I submitted to the internet it took two months to render in Blender Cycles unfortunately it only lasted for seconds, I uploaded every frame to Flash and uploaded it to Newgrounds it didn't win and I had to cut it short since I was taking too long to render. Other than that I made I made like a test animation starring Super Duper Dupey and I collaborated with another artist to make an intro. Years later I started using Blender's live animation renderer called eevee I made three Shuttle Switcher shorts which all did pretty bad in views and ratings, to be honest I wasn't trying my best.

Web Comics

The first web comic I posted was The Adventures of Super Koopa Troopa and Friends, I made it for the forums on a Super Mario Fan Site called Mario Fan Games Galaxy, it got really good reception, but it got taken down when the forum had a overhaul all of the files were on that flash stick that broke that had all of my game projects on it. The other Comic series I posted were Platformer Pests, Shuttle Switcher, Radical Reserve, Shuttle Switcher Dimensional Disaster, Shuttle Switcher Ghost Galaxy, and Tribal Guys.

My many quits

While making a comic called Shuttle Switcher Dimensional Disaster I showed it to someone important to me and they asked what age was it for? That question hit me hard and got me to question everything I started reading all of the negative coments on my cartoons and started overanalyzing all of my content I started to hate my art, so I threw everything away thousands of comics I drew for the last twenty years I took everything I ever made offline including all of my digital comics and videos, and I deleted all of my accounts. Aound that time I reached my goal of 100 fans infact I surpassed it and got 230, but I didn't really feel any satisfaction from it. People kept on encouraging me to get more fans but it felt so empty and I didn't feel good about making art anymore. The combination of the two just made art less important for me.

After that art just isn't the same for me. Every time I draw It just reminded me of all of the loss. I repeated the process of deleting everything five times in a row after few short campaigns.
